  1. Noticed you label this a ‘corny postcard’….in 1972 this would have been called ‘wholesome’. …….all sorts of social changes were happening/just beginning…..I know, I was there. In retrospect and thinking of NOW comparisons….corny and wholesome were quite harmless, calm and maybe even valued. Quite unlike the social engineering. politically correct, petty tyrants of today. Political correctness has spawned a Victimhood Industry ….. and is not just ludicrous but also lucrative. Music please…..Try to remember……or maybe just……try to forget. Have a wonderful day…..J. • Hi,

I accept some of the underlying view of your comment, but I think you overstate things.

Change is our only constant in society, and while sometimes its effects are attractive, other times they are not, but in any case, there’s no avoiding it.

I certainly like some of the changes we’ve had since that earlier time, but there are many I regret.

I sure love the Internet and personal computers – one of the miracles of our time – but I don’t love a good many things which seem to have come with it.

To my ear, pretty sensitive to words and their nuances, “corny” is not all that different from “wholesome.”

“Corny” is a word from the time itself, the 1950s and ’60s, not today. It is rarely heard today. It was not a disparaging word, not a bit, at least with most using it, but it did categorize them.

“Wholesome” was what we called Walt Disney films back then. I think the only thing that has changed there is that no one would use the word today outside of say certain religious groups.
